ASPE Summer Outing

If you haven’t signed up yet for the Boston Chapter Summer Outing at Canobie Lake Park, this will be your final opportunity.  A number of spaces are still available but we are limited to a maximum of 99 attendees.  Once we hit 99, that’s it.

The Board of Directors has agreed to underwrite a large portion of the cost for the admission ticket and cookout.  Times are tough for many ASPE families and we can appreciate that money is tight.  That’s why the chapter is trying to help its members by making a family day at Canobie Lake Park much more affordable.  For $30 per adult and $20 per child 16 or younger, you will enjoy a two hour All-You-Can-Eat summer barbeque from noon to 2 pm.  The rest of the day you can spend anyway you want, riding the rides, cooling off on the water rides, watching the various shows, playing games, or relaxing on a bench in the shade of the trees.

I have been taking my boys there for the last few years, and it’s a nice, clean, safe amusement park with dozens of new rides and attractions.  I was told that that may not have been the case some years ago.  Do yourself a favor and send in the reservation form for you and your family.  Take a day off and treat the family to some good old fashioned fun.  I hope to see you there.

April Meeting at British Beer Company

I don’t know if everyone else’s monthly report in this newsletter is going to mention last month’s meeting venue, but I will.  In a sense, it does relate to the membership report.  The last meeting was held in a private room at the British Beer Company in Walpole.  It was well attended, but to be honest, I thought even more members would have taken the opportunity to enjoy a change of scenery for once.  It was a nice change of venue.  It was also nice having a variety of appetizers instead of the standard Lantana meatballs, as well as a choice of entrée. Great meeting, and I enjoyed staying afterwards with everyone just to socialize a bit more.

As a member of the Board of Directors for this chapter, we are always looking for ways to improve what we have to offer to our members.  If changing the meeting location a few months a year makes it more convenient for members to attend, we certainly will consider making the move.  If you have a suggestion for a future meeting location, by all means suggest it. Certainly there are numerous North Shore and MetroWest locations that would be perfect for a monthly meeting.  Whether you send your suggestions to me or any other member of the board, we will look into it.  We want you to attend meetings, and other chapter events.  Whatever we can do to encourage your participation we will do.  Let us know your thoughts and suggestions.
